The Night Circus - Completed

The Night Circus – Completed

Well its official, I WANT TO JOIN THIS CIRCUS! I just finished reading this book, after posting on Wednesday I was determined to finish ASAP. And I was not disappointed at all. It was truly incredible. So I shall carry on and let you all know what I thought of the ending...

The way it all panned out was un-expected but brilliant. I was pleased with the outcomes of all the storylines. The fact that Bailey is now owner of the circus makes me want to join even more!

The intensity confused me slightly when Marco & Celia kind of took away their human forms, though they were still there and had each other they were kind of alone, they detached themselves from the “game” and stayed with each other, which was a lovely (kind of) happy ending.  What I found sad was the deaths of Chandresh and Friedrick Herr Theissen. I mean of all people I would have loved for Friedrick to live, he was so great, and Celia’s dear friend. It would have been interesting to see how he dealt with what happened to her.

Widget and Poppet were probably my favourite characters. Their stories turned out well, if there was a sequel (which I don’t think there should be because this book cannot be outdone) I presume Poppet and Bailey would get together, so cute! Widget and Alexander’s conversation was a little scary but deep and good, it showed what was to come for the young boy.

Also I loved the way Prospero (Hector Bowen) popped up frequently toward the end, his cruelty kind of made the book funnier, I enjoyed it. Some may say I’m odd but I really did, his way of mind was awful but the way he talked to Celia was wrong but it made me giggle for some reason.

Any who, I shall stop going on and on now. And I know I have already said this, but I loved this book. I loved it I loved it I loved it! To finish I found this review online of the book and thought it was very accurate, especially how she talked about the beauty of the book, the cover, the book mark the black pages, it was gorgeous. And I really hope it does get turned into a film! It would be so amazing to watch but could it live up to the book?

One last note, I’m off to Wales this weekend to go to this cool Hindu mandir on top of a hill or something so I’m excited! I probably won’t be posting about it until Tuesday, and after that I’m back to school (on my birthday! 5th September) so yeah, seeya all soon :)

The Night Circus - So Far...

The Night Circus- Book Review So Far...

Hello my lovelies :-) this week I want to talk to you all about a book I’m reading. It’s called “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern. I’m actually still reading it now, though I’m almost done. I just thought I’d tell you all what I thought so far.

I absolutely love this novel. Its complete fiction and I ADORE it. It’s just completely taken me into a new world, and I have officially escaped reality. It’s set in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and each new chapter shows a date and is set from different characters perspectives. I’ve never really read anything like it, it’s wonderful, though at the beginning I was very confused as I got into it, and I was amazed. Firstly what confused me were the timelines converging, some going forward and some going back I wasn’t too sure what was going on, but as I read on I got to grips with all of it.  But seriously, this book has actually made me want to run away and join the circus, but not a regular one, this one, though it's spooky and creepy and frightening it would be incredible to actually have a circus like this.

Though I am loving Marco and Celia’s story, them being the glue that holds the book together; I’m finding Poppet and Bailey’s story far more intriguing. Their story is quite interesting, their connection is strong and I really hope their story ends well. I find the descriptions of Caroline from Bailey's point of view, enchanting, he goes into detail of her red hair and white clothes and the way she moves etc.

I have to say the book was not what I expected, when I started reading it I thought it’d be an old-fashioned version of “The Hunger Games” but it turned into something I would have never imagined. Something magical and hypnotizing. I never thought I could be so mesmerized by a book!

Prospero; Celia’s father sincerely interests me. At the beginning I cringed at the training he put his daughter through, yet when he died I was saddened. Though he often re-appears as a ghost it doesn’t have the same affect. He was charming yet frightening, such a marvelous character.

One last thing, I understand the whole ring-burning connection process thingy, but I’m still stuck as to why it’s happening? I get that they un-intentionally control the circus and those who are part of its lives, but again how&why? I’m clueless to when this “challenge” will start and why they are opponents? Is there even a reason? Does anyone care to explain to me? Maybe I’m the clueless one here, I don’t know.

There are so many more characters I’d like to talk about, like Widget and Isobel and Friedrick Herr Thiessen, Chandresh and more about Celia and Marco. But how about instead, you guys tell me what YOU think. Comment and tell me what you think of this incredible book, the atmosphere, the feelings, emotions, people all of it. Tell me!

Lastly, here's a book trailer from you tube that I found really cool! I really, REALLY love the music to this trailer, it makes my imagination go crazy and its literally like i'm there, at the night circus!

See you next week my loves ;-)

Obsessive Fans

Twitter Fan bases

Good Morning! The matter I want to discuss with you all this week is fan bases via social networking sites. Like, we all know the basic ones, e.g “directioners” (1D), “The TW Fanmily”(The Wanted), “TVD Family”(The Vampire Diaries), “Rihanna Navy”(Rihanna), “Katy Cats” (Katy Perry), and “Glamberts” (Adam Lambert) etc. and we all think it’s  all well and good and don’t really give it a second thought. But have any of you ever thought that it’s kind of creepy that fans would spam their favourite stars ‘@mentions’ 24/7 and tweet pictures of them and constantly talk about them?

Personally, I have to admit, I am a member of the “TVD Family” but not in a creepy/obsessive way. I occasionally tweet pictures I like of the cast, or tweet about them or talk to other members via twitter. But hey, I can’t help it, I’m a teenage girl who casually fangirls over vampire romance. But JHEEZ, some of the other fans are completely compelled and owned by these celebs. It’s like that’s all that matters to them in life! I mean it can be ok sometimes if you occasionally do it, and don’t talk about it all the time, I mean there are other things in life apart from these stars.

The obsessions they have over celebs is crazy. It’s like it’s what their lives revolve around, having a love and passion for something is different to having and obsession and being totally possessed by their being. My twitted bio reads “I love #TheVampireDiaries...” Which is true, I honestly adore the show. The storylines intrigue me, and the acting is amazing, but unlike others I don’t let it become my life. I know there are other things in life accept for my favourite celebs. Like, sometimes when stars reply to their fans tweets, they go crazy and tell everyone and go on about it for months. It’s mental; I mean yeah, be happy your idol tweeted you but don’t let it be the only thing you talk/think about for the next 3months of your life!

But also on a serious note, it can actually be dangerous; some crazy fans rarely risk their lives and will do anything to meet their fave celebs. Or things can even get threatening. An example of threatening fan behaviour is a recent incident that occurred involving the 1D boys, let’s just say, they met a girl, zayn wanted to date her, fans found out and spammed her twitter and facebook with threats, etc etc. I won’t go into too much detail, but if you want the full story: 1D fans bully girl out 1D fans bully girl out of Zayn Malik date.

So that’s it this week guys :) comment, follow my blog, and follow my twitter: shriya_TVD or email me: shriya98@live.co.uk

Seeya next week my lovelies ;)

Happy Independence Day India!

Happy Independence Day India!

Hey everyone  I’d like to start off by saying Happy Independence Day! As many of you know, I am Indian. Though my ethnic origins are spread across two continenents, Africa and Asia; I am a proud Indian. And today, Wednesday 15th August is our independence day. The day we finally won our freedom and became a sovereign nation. I myself don’t actually know that much about the day, so I’ve enjoyed doing a little research myself and expanding my knowledge.

So here are some interesting facts I found out about the day:
  • It’s a national holiday in India.
  •  A flagship event takes place every year in Delhi where the Prime Minister puts up the national flag and follows it up with a speech.
  • The day is then celebrated a lot with parades and other cultural events.
  • The only other 2 public holiday’s in India are Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti(Gandhi’s birthday) ―Tuesday, October 2 and Republic Day ―Thursday, January 26.
  •  One of the known famous quotes about the day: "At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new...India discovers herself again." - Jawaharlal Nehru.
  •  People often use the phrase “Jai Hind!” on the day which means roughly “victory to India”.
I've really loved reading more about this remarkable day and learning more about my origin. I hope all my fellow Indians and all people of India have a lovely Independence Day! I've got Gandhi on my sky+ planner and I intend on watching it for the first time tonight! I’ll leave you with my favourite Independence Day quote; “A true Indian isn't one who puts up flags on the 15th but someone who picks up discarded flags on the 16th and feels proud to be Indian all year round.”

On&Off Celeb Couples- Riri&Chris, Gaga&Taylor and KStew&RPatz

On-Again Off-Again Celeb Couples

Hello my lovely readers, I’m trying out new writing techniques and think maybe it’s time I stop writing review after review, though I love it and it’s what I’m comfortable with I think it’s time for change. So, this week I have some news on some on&off celeb couples who you’ve all probably heard about in the last few weeks.

 1. Rihanna& Chris Brown- right now they are: ON. Well, reportedly, there have been rumours flooding through the press recently, stories about them partying together, talking to each other etc. Then they went and recorded a track together (“Birthday Cake”) and her good friend Jay-Z said he was disappointed in her for communicating with him. But recently Jay seems to have given his blessing to the couple if they wish to rekindle their romance. A source claims “She admitted they're pretty much back on and Jay told her they're all behind her and want her to be happy.” Aww what a good friend, right? Rihanna’s own brother even says that the two are “soul mates”. Infact I heard Chris is flying out to Barbados to visit her. I actually wrote a little piece on the two of them here; Rihanna&Chris Brown. Personally I don’t think we’ll ever hear the end of this little love affair.

The Loved-Up couple before she cheated.
 2. Kristen Stewart& Robert Pattinson- right now they are: OFF. I’m sure you’ve ALL heard about this recent scandal. The couple started dating in 2008 when the Twilight saga started and again, rumours have just been taking over magazines with stories that they’ve broken up and gotten back together all the time. But now the little “Trampire” has gone and cheated on poor old RPatz! She had an affair with the MARRIED director of her movie “Snow White& The Huntsman”; Rupert Sanders. Not only married, but he has kids! Both the cheaters have released statements apologising. Kristen& Rob were even talking about having a child together after the Twilight’s were all done& dusted. Personally I adore the Twilight movies, and I think Kristen plays Bella superbly as the frail fidgety character she’s meant to be. But I didn’t think she could’ve played a heroine or villain, just the girl that relies on others to keep her safe. I didn’t think she had the personality for it, I didn’t think she took risks or was ballsy enough. Evidently I was wrong. Apparently she fears the future of their relationship and is acting like a heartbroken teenager. It’s Rob I feel bad for, next week he’ll be appearing on his first
TV show to talk about this incident, I really hope he moves on from that boring, cheating, nasty woman.

Pictures of her with "The Other Guy"
 3. Lady Gaga& Taylor Kinney- right now they are: ON. I was actually ecstatic when I heard about this little relationship! Not only am I a fan of Lady Gaga’s music but Taylor Kinney guest-starred in my all time favourite TV show; THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! He played incredibly sexy werewolf-Mason Lockwood. Him and Gaga. The pair started their relationship in late 2011, and since then they have been very happy until recently they had a little lovers-tiff and separated for a short while, but now it’s all good. They’re back together and look very happy as they pose naked in a pool together. Hmm, well you can’t exactly expect normal pictures of them together, it is Lady Gaga remember!
So overall the last few months have been super lively in the celeb relationship category. Not only with these on& off couples but the sad break-up of Michelle Keegan and Max George, and also the beautiful marriage of Marvin Humes and Rochelle Wiseman. And I’m sure there’s plenty more make-ups, break-ups, new couples to come in the next few months!

Lemar- Invincible review

Lemar-Invincible

34 year old singer Lemar is back baby! *crazy-dances around the room* WOO! The amazing singer has graced us with his latest song “Invincible” and the best words I can think of to describe it are dazzling and delicate. It’s officially released on August 12th but you can pre-order now on iTunes.

At the beginning of the video you expect a fairytale; it starts off at the beach with him singing and a beautiful woman in a stunning wedding dress walking. You automatically think that they’re getting married and its all happiness, puppies, and rainbows. That’s what I thought anyway.
The two kids at the beginning of the video that represent him and his female companion as children, are GORGEOUS, don’t you think? Honestly I think that scene is the sweetest part. Where the little boy gives the little girl a flower and they hug, it’s just so cute! They’re honestly two of the most adorable kids I’ve ever seen. Then the king sent his soldiers to tear them apart, which at the end of the video you will see if it worked successfully.

Then eventually, the adorable little kids turn into teens/young adults. And they continue to run away from any problems they faced, as he stands there proclaiming “the love that we had took us up, flew away” they just continued running, showing infact their love was “Invincible”. Literally though, whenever these two people were together, whether it was as kids, teens or adults they seemed elated with each other, so engrossed in the other, and on top of the world.

Then comes the bit that jerked my heart so hard I almost cried. Lemar was on his motorbike, looking really hot in a classy suit and bam, they’re together, she’s in the wedding dress and they ride together so you assume they’re going to get married. But no. He’s driving her to her wedding, not theirs. Like they said at the beginning “there was a king, he had soldiers, they had orders, to tear us apart” and as you can see through the course of the video the “soldiers” pop up frequently, and well, you can guess the rest. The love she once had with Lemar was replaced. She’d chosen one of the soldiers to marry. Though he took her to her wedding even though he loved him shows a truly beautiful friendship. It just made my sad when he sang “Wish that you had chosen me instead” and his little puppy-dog face, n’awhhhh!

I mean with such powerful lyrics like “they can’t take you away from me” and “we were invincible” it just didn’t seem like it was going to end that way. It was quite a twist! The words to the song are really telling the story of these two people, it takes you through each part. Like, I could watch the video without sounds and understand it, and I could listen to the song without the video and understand it. Personally, I think the main message of this song is that if you love someone you want them to be happy, even if you’re not a part of their happiness.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, LEMAR TWEETED ME! OMG, OMG OMG! Woah, sorry, fan girl moment over. I tweeted him expressing my love for his new song and he tweeted me back a winky-face. I know it’s just a winky face but, WOOHOO. I feel special: D
Any who, I can’t really find anything bad to say about this song/video, its simplicity was bliss and I think it’ll definitely be making a change in the charts soon.

Also, just one last message. I’ve had my blog for exactly a year today and I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have read my posts. I really love writing for you guys and remember if you have any questions, suggestions or anything at all to say to me just email me: shriya98@live.co.uk or tweet me: @shriya_TVD.
