Twitter Fan bases
Good Morning! The matter I want to discuss with you all this week is fan bases via social networking sites. Like, we all know the basic ones, e.g “directioners” (1D), “The TW Fanmily”(The Wanted), “TVD Family”(The Vampire Diaries), “Rihanna Navy”(Rihanna), “Katy Cats” (Katy Perry), and “Glamberts” (Adam Lambert) etc. and we all think it’s all well and good and don’t really give it a second thought. But have any of you ever thought that it’s kind of creepy that fans would spam their favourite stars ‘@mentions’ 24/7 and tweet pictures of them and constantly talk about them?
Personally, I have to admit, I am a member of the “TVD Family” but not in a creepy/obsessive way. I occasionally tweet pictures I like of the cast, or tweet about them or talk to other members via twitter. But hey, I can’t help it, I’m a teenage girl who casually fangirls over vampire romance. But JHEEZ, some of the other fans are completely compelled and owned by these celebs. It’s like that’s all that matters to them in life! I mean it can be ok sometimes if you occasionally do it, and don’t talk about it all the time, I mean there are other things in life apart from these stars.
The obsessions they have over celebs is crazy. It’s like it’s what their lives revolve around, having a love and passion for something is different to having and obsession and being totally possessed by their being. My twitted bio reads “I love #TheVampireDiaries...” Which is true, I honestly adore the show. The storylines intrigue me, and the acting is amazing, but unlike others I don’t let it become my life. I know there are other things in life accept for my favourite celebs. Like, sometimes when stars reply to their fans tweets, they go crazy and tell everyone and go on about it for months. It’s mental; I mean yeah, be happy your idol tweeted you but don’t let it be the only thing you talk/think about for the next 3months of your life!
But also on a serious note, it can actually be dangerous; some crazy fans rarely risk their lives and will do anything to meet their fave celebs. Or things can even get threatening. An example of threatening fan behaviour is a recent incident that occurred involving the 1D boys, let’s just say, they met a girl, zayn wanted to date her, fans found out and spammed her twitter and facebook with threats, etc etc. I won’t go into too much detail, but if you want the full story: 1D fans bully girl out 1D fans bully girl out of Zayn Malik date.
So that’s it this week guys :) comment, follow my blog, and follow my twitter: shriya_TVD or email me: shriya98@live.co.uk
