The Vampire Diaries - Season 3 finale review

The Vampire Diaries Season3 Finale
Well,  the season 3 finale of The Vampire Diaries aired in the UK last tuesday and to be honest the whole season up-down-left-right all round totally crazy. I cried when Alaric said his goodbyes to Jeremy, laughed at all Damon’s snide remarks and Klaus’s evil ways, smiled at the Stelena, Delena moments, and was on the edge of my seat after every single episode. I really cannot express my love for this show. It’s just...wow, in every way. Season 3 was phenomenal and was topped off nicely with one whopper of a finale!

Right at the beginning we all saw flashbacks of Elena’s life before vampires. This idea was really great, finally getting to see what Elena’s parents looked like and what she was like as well. Lately all we’ve seen is scared, sad, or angry Elena, this was a nice change. She was so ‘peppy’ before, being a cheerleader with a jock boyfriend, it was very stereotypical. It was also really good to see when the Salvatore brothers first came into her life. Those flashbacks were awesome; I will never forget well Damon said to Elena “You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.” And when Elena and her parents drove of Wickery Bridge and Stefan saved her. All of it was such a huge revelation really. We’ve known the basics of her past from season1, but this really cleared things up. I think it was genius to put those scenes in.
Next, something EVERY TVD fan has been talking about. That Stelena kiss! After a whole season of waiting patiently for our gorgeous couple to reunite, we got it! Though it probably angered all those Delena fans who were rooting for Elena to choose Damon. Personally I don’t know who I wanted her to chose, first I thought her and Stefan were perfect for each other. Then I remembered perfection doesn’t exist, does it? And Damon is so much fun; he could show her things she’d never see with Stefan. It’s a decision I don’t think I’ll ever make properly. Though that kiss was pure utter bliss. When Stefan whispered “Just in case there is no later.” I wanted to jump in the house and lock the door so neither of them could leave each other!

But um, what the heck is going on with Bonnie? How could she help Klaus like that?! Though I’m all for Klaus, I love him to bits and want him to stay in the show forevermore, but Bonnie helped him? The good little witch girl who decided to stay out of vampires business once, it was a bit of a shock. I liked it though. Despite the sadness of Tyler dying, the fact that Klaus remains alive in Tyler’s body excites me deeply. Frankly, Bonnie is sick of being pushed around by everyone else and made her own decision for once; I think her slightly off-character choice was due to all the dark magic she had to tap into the week before. I kind of like Bonnies independent side, I hope to see more of it next season.

Alaric, Alaric, Alaric...what happened to my favourite vampire hunter?! I literally DESPISE Esther for turning him into a vampire. It broke my heart to see the lovely guy as some evil psychopath. I think during the whole episode the part that made me cry the most was when Alaric said bye to Jeremy as a ghost. I bawled like baby! I felt like I’d been punched in the chest. I’m so sad that he died and if I could change anything about the episode, I’d just keep Alaric alive.  Not just because he’s amazing and sweet and has a little bro-mance going with Damon but there’s no adults left. Elena’s parents died, Jenna died, John and Isobel died and now Alaric? Who’s going to take care of them all in season4?!

Finally the ending, Elena is a vampire! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Stefan couldn’t save her from the one thing she never wanted. I can’t wait for season4! It’s riveting!

There’s so much else I want to write about, Klaus and Caroline, Rebekah and Elijah, Meredith, the Delena phonecall and what I expect in season4 etc. But I’ll leave you with an intriguing thought, will Elena chose to complete the transition in Season 4?

For now my lovelies, I bid you good day ;)

Ron Pope - Atlanta

Ron Pope-Atlanta

Ronald Michael Pope does not get the recognition he deserves. I know me writing about him won’t make him famous over-night but I hope those of you who do read this, listen to a few of his tracks and tell people about his fantastic voice.

This man is gob-smackingly awesome. I only came across his music a few months ago when I was listening to some of “The Vampire Diaries” soundtrack when I heard this WONDERFUL song ‘A Drop in the Ocean’ by none other than Ron himself, it honestly wowed me. He wrote it in 2005 and it had featured in shows like 90210 and The Vampire Diaries. It’s when he first really started his music career, and I was shocked I’d only heard his music on YouTube in 2012. I really think he deserves to be noticed a lot more.

Anyway, he released his newest album ‘Atlanta’ last month and I love it. I love it, I love it, I love it. It’s astonishingly excellent. He plays kind of pop-folksy stuff but his songs are just...gorgeous! This is actually his 8th album and I’ve listened to some of the tracks from his older cd’s and they’re just as astounding as the new ones. I really do wish I’d heard of him before.

Some of my favourites from Atlanta are, One Grain Of Sand, October Trees, I Do Not Love You, and Atlanta itself. Though all of the songs on the album are good these just stood out. One Grain Of Sand is just so strong, he’s talking about how he’s with this girl but thinks she’s not that interested in him, and how he doesn’t want to make her feel love if she doesn’t. Whereas I Do Not Love You is very misleading from its name, you think it’s just going to be about him being with someone he doesn’t love when really he’s saying how he doesn’t love his girlfriend for super-ficial reasons but for so much more. So all his songs differ on subject matter but they’re all so... original.

As soon as he releases some new stuff I will definitely be writing about him more. He’s really different and un-noticed and I’m so glad I came across his music online; I haven’t stopped listening to his songs since!

Ed Sheeran-Small Bump video review

Ed Sheeran- Small Bump Video

Firstly I’d just like to say how gosh-darn lovely Ed Sheeran is! And his music and videos clearly match the genuine guy he is. His newly released song Small Bump, from his album “+” along with the video, is truly heart-achingly tragic.

Personally I really like this song, though I heard it a few weeks back on YouTube it still pulls on my heart strings every time I hear it. Though the video is very very simple I think that compliments the song and makes you really listen to the lyrics, there isn’t much going on which is a good and bad thing to be honest.

Sometimes when I watch the video I think it’s too simple, that there could have been more to it, just something to give it a little umph. But then I watch it again and him sitting in the waiting room is more than enough. Though I did like the way they showed children and adults coming to the hospital for different reasons, it made it kind of cute. I know it’s an awfully sad song, but whilst he was singing and the little girl runs in it was kind of nice in a way.

His dress sense in all his videos is pretty similar but I like it. I think it suits him a lot. His casual hoodie, jeans and trainers are nice. I don’t think it would suit him going round in a slim-fit suit or taking his shirt off dancing around. I like his style, it’s who he is and I sincerely hope it doesn’t change too much as his career carries on.

Also I think it’d be good to mention some of the powerful lyrics to the song. I really liked when he sang “Fingernails the size of a half grain of rice, eyelids closed to be soon open wide” though he’s singing it in quite a solemn blank expression I think he’s excited that he’s going to have a baby, he describes in detail the little features he can’t wait to see and how he can’t wait for his child to open its eyes for the first time.

One of the other lyrics I think really shows that he wrote the song and he is involved in it is “Might be left with my hair but you’ll have your mother’s eyes” I think that lyric is just adorable. Because he’s ginger and a lot of people are really rude about that he’s basically saying , ‘hey yeah I’m your dad and you’re probably gonna get my ginger locks, but you’ll have your mothers eyes’ He’s probably one of the only really real and pure people in the music industry. Obviously I’ve never met him but he seems just amazing. His songs always do make my heart skip a beat.

The last lyric I’m going to comment on is one of the last one’s in the song “You were just a small bump unborn, four months and torn from life” clearly this is saying how his child has passed and gone to heaven. It’s an extremely sad ending to a beautiful song but it’s sadly realistic, as this kind of thing does happen to people un-fortunately often. I think Ed was trying to really connect and help people who have gone through this kind of situation. I don’t know what could’ve compelled him to write such a song as most of song-writing comes from experience, I really hope he hasn’t experienced anything like this.

Overall I really do love this song and the video was a nice touch. I think it’ll be very popular for a long time.

Quasar Elite

QUASAR

Hey all. I’m going to go all Katy Perry and tell you what I did “Last Friday Night”. Me and my cousins decided we all needed a good night out together, and as childish as it sounds we decided to go to Quasar Elite in Enfield. I have to say I had the funniest most amazing time.
Firstly one of the staff members took all 7 of us into a room where he gave us a “Pre-Match talk” where he explained to us that we had to split up into two teams, a blue team and a red team. Then he told us about the vests/packs we’d be wearing. They were quite big and had a target spot on front and back. The target spot is basically where you could be shot; your pack/vest would vibrate if you’d been shot by the laser gun. Also, the guns had a rather complicated process, you were given 20shots and 20lives, you could re-energise your gun however many times as you want when your lives and shots began to look low by going to the power station for your team.

After the talk we were led into the game area. It was so much better than I expected! It was quite a big area and really dark which just made the atmosphere 10 times better. It was filled with stairs and slopes and so many walls, it was like a maze. To be honest I didn’t know where I was going I just ran if someone from the opposing team came near me. And I don’t think I’ve screamed that much since going on my first rollercoaster. Though it was only a half an hour session it really wore me out, because there was 4 people on the other team I had to run away from them continuously and since I didn’t know where I was going I got lost...a lot. Also it was really affordable; £5.75 per person is really good for 30minute session.
After the session we took of our vests/packs and put back our laser guns and at the counter they gave us all a sheet telling us who shot who and your own amount of points and your whole teams points.

It was honestly so much fun; I’d definitely do it again and recommend it to people.

The Hunger Games-Movie Review

The Hunger Games- Movie Review
In the first instalment of the amazing trilogy “The Hunger Games”, set in a futuristic North America, where a past historical event has caused them, in the modern day, to annually send one teenage boy and girl from each of the twelve districts (area’s) to compete in a warring “game” of which only one of the 24 tributes will survive.  When Primrose Everdeen, a young fragile little girl gets picked from the ballad, her older sister, 17year old Katniss Everdeen bravely offers herself up as a tribute instead, determined for her sister to be safe. Then Peeta Mallark gets picked as the male tribute for the games, Katniss shares an emotional background with him and struggles to shut him out. When her mother, sister and best friend Gale say goodbye to her she promises she’ll try to win for them. And after days of training and mentoring with middle-aged laid-back Haymitch, the games commence.
I do think Katniss was un-believably brave to step in for her sister. She’s such a strong ballsy heroine. I especially love the scene when individually they have to approach the sponsors and show them their talent, in this case Katniss’s was her bow and arrow, on her first try she misses, she tries again and gets it on target. But because of her first impression they’ve all turned around and forgotten she was there, so to get their attention she shoots an arrow at the apple in the pigs mouth that all the poncy sponsors are about to eat and she hits it right in the middle. That certainly got their attention!

Also, I know this is set in the future but oh gosh what where half of them wearing?! I swear I was almost blinded by the people in the ‘Capitol’. It was hideous and WAY over the top. One woman thought it wasn’t enough to look like a pink cream puff but decided to dye her pooch’s fur pink too! Poor dog. Just look at some of the out-fits and couture of them. Personally, to me it looks like a mesh of outfits Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Jedward put together.

Someone who helps put an end to these fashion crimes is Cinna, a really sweet good-hearted guy who is Katniss’s ‘stylist’ so to speak, he makes her look beautiful and powerful and doesn’t dress her up in neon colours and put paint on her face, after he’s done with her everyone referred to her as “The Girl On Fire!”  He has quite a small part but was one of my favourite characters, he was slightly camp but so cute, before Katniss has to be taken to the starting grounds of the games he kisses her cheek and gives her encouraging words.

During the games Katniss makes friends with a young girl named Rue, aw and she is so adorable! Soon the girls become allies and I think this happens because Rue reminds Katniss of her little sister. As their bond grows a tragedy occurs, I won’t reveal too much but there are some really heart-aching scenes that will trigger the water-works.
This is just a quick mention of the character Seneca Crane, behind the scenes but very powerful, he likes to make things difficult for the tributes, but I HAD to comment on his beard! I love it!

Now, when it comes to love interests in the movie Katniss has this best friend called Gale, he’s her hunting partner and he’s in the movie mostly at the beginning. He’s really good looking and she seems so comfortable around him, they get along like a house on fire, plus he genuinely seems to care about her, I definitely see a spark between them. But then there’s Peeta. And he is just as good looking and sweet and kind, once he reveals his feelings for Katniss things get a lot more complicated, because they know one of them must die, I won’t tell you the ending just because some of you may have not seen it yet. But it’s a really great film and I enjoyed it, I really hope there’s a sequel and I can’t wait to see it!

Does this picture remind you of another love triangle from a very popular vampire movie?

“Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favour!”
