Quasar Elite

QUASAR

Hey all. I’m going to go all Katy Perry and tell you what I did “Last Friday Night”. Me and my cousins decided we all needed a good night out together, and as childish as it sounds we decided to go to Quasar Elite in Enfield. I have to say I had the funniest most amazing time.
Firstly one of the staff members took all 7 of us into a room where he gave us a “Pre-Match talk” where he explained to us that we had to split up into two teams, a blue team and a red team. Then he told us about the vests/packs we’d be wearing. They were quite big and had a target spot on front and back. The target spot is basically where you could be shot; your pack/vest would vibrate if you’d been shot by the laser gun. Also, the guns had a rather complicated process, you were given 20shots and 20lives, you could re-energise your gun however many times as you want when your lives and shots began to look low by going to the power station for your team.

After the talk we were led into the game area. It was so much better than I expected! It was quite a big area and really dark which just made the atmosphere 10 times better. It was filled with stairs and slopes and so many walls, it was like a maze. To be honest I didn’t know where I was going I just ran if someone from the opposing team came near me. And I don’t think I’ve screamed that much since going on my first rollercoaster. Though it was only a half an hour session it really wore me out, because there was 4 people on the other team I had to run away from them continuously and since I didn’t know where I was going I got lost...a lot. Also it was really affordable; £5.75 per person is really good for 30minute session.
After the session we took of our vests/packs and put back our laser guns and at the counter they gave us all a sheet telling us who shot who and your own amount of points and your whole teams points.

It was honestly so much fun; I’d definitely do it again and recommend it to people.

The Hunger Games-Movie Review

The Hunger Games- Movie Review
In the first instalment of the amazing trilogy “The Hunger Games”, set in a futuristic North America, where a past historical event has caused them, in the modern day, to annually send one teenage boy and girl from each of the twelve districts (area’s) to compete in a warring “game” of which only one of the 24 tributes will survive.  When Primrose Everdeen, a young fragile little girl gets picked from the ballad, her older sister, 17year old Katniss Everdeen bravely offers herself up as a tribute instead, determined for her sister to be safe. Then Peeta Mallark gets picked as the male tribute for the games, Katniss shares an emotional background with him and struggles to shut him out. When her mother, sister and best friend Gale say goodbye to her she promises she’ll try to win for them. And after days of training and mentoring with middle-aged laid-back Haymitch, the games commence.
I do think Katniss was un-believably brave to step in for her sister. She’s such a strong ballsy heroine. I especially love the scene when individually they have to approach the sponsors and show them their talent, in this case Katniss’s was her bow and arrow, on her first try she misses, she tries again and gets it on target. But because of her first impression they’ve all turned around and forgotten she was there, so to get their attention she shoots an arrow at the apple in the pigs mouth that all the poncy sponsors are about to eat and she hits it right in the middle. That certainly got their attention!

Also, I know this is set in the future but oh gosh what where half of them wearing?! I swear I was almost blinded by the people in the ‘Capitol’. It was hideous and WAY over the top. One woman thought it wasn’t enough to look like a pink cream puff but decided to dye her pooch’s fur pink too! Poor dog. Just look at some of the out-fits and couture of them. Personally, to me it looks like a mesh of outfits Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Jedward put together.

Someone who helps put an end to these fashion crimes is Cinna, a really sweet good-hearted guy who is Katniss’s ‘stylist’ so to speak, he makes her look beautiful and powerful and doesn’t dress her up in neon colours and put paint on her face, after he’s done with her everyone referred to her as “The Girl On Fire!”  He has quite a small part but was one of my favourite characters, he was slightly camp but so cute, before Katniss has to be taken to the starting grounds of the games he kisses her cheek and gives her encouraging words.

During the games Katniss makes friends with a young girl named Rue, aw and she is so adorable! Soon the girls become allies and I think this happens because Rue reminds Katniss of her little sister. As their bond grows a tragedy occurs, I won’t reveal too much but there are some really heart-aching scenes that will trigger the water-works.
This is just a quick mention of the character Seneca Crane, behind the scenes but very powerful, he likes to make things difficult for the tributes, but I HAD to comment on his beard! I love it!

Now, when it comes to love interests in the movie Katniss has this best friend called Gale, he’s her hunting partner and he’s in the movie mostly at the beginning. He’s really good looking and she seems so comfortable around him, they get along like a house on fire, plus he genuinely seems to care about her, I definitely see a spark between them. But then there’s Peeta. And he is just as good looking and sweet and kind, once he reveals his feelings for Katniss things get a lot more complicated, because they know one of them must die, I won’t tell you the ending just because some of you may have not seen it yet. But it’s a really great film and I enjoyed it, I really hope there’s a sequel and I can’t wait to see it!

Does this picture remind you of another love triangle from a very popular vampire movie?

“Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favour!”
